W2 Time!

So it's crazy time at work again. I'm also managing the whole release process of W2s this year on top of my normal stuff which is fun. Then of course first quarter starts and we had a huge mess with two of our first lives this month but I was able to knock both of them out of the park. Kudos from one of our customers :

"Working with almost 750 employees myself, I know that majority of people would have just done “their best” and got what they could done to skate by, especially when cleaning up the mistake of another co-worker.

Please thank John on our behalf I truly appreciate the extra effort that he made.  You have a great employee on your hands that knows the meaning of customer service and teamwork."

I'm glad the lazy people make me look good D=

So I haven't posted in a while.

So let's see. I had my 32nd birthday, and man I got some grey hairs ;x. I think I need less stress or something haha. I was kind of sad actually a lot of people whom I expected to show up, did not. We still had fun though and hung out and played some Kubb which was way fun. I'm glad we have our own set now.

Spent my week off cutting floorboards and tidying up the house. Still need to  level the floor in one place since the previous people did a crappy job, so that I can install the baseboard there. Thanks to Dave for having a miter and coming over to help me do a lot of the work.

I quit wow about a month ago. Sold my account for 300, I could have gotten 350 if I took paypal but I'd rather have cash in hand then deal with paypal over electronic goods. It was fun while it lasted but a lot of the friends I enjoyed playing with are on a myriad of servers and don't play all too often anyway, so the time seemed about right with the xpac coming and all. Sad that the person bought my account to pvp with when my druid pretty much had all BIS PVE gear.

Works had a lot of changes, and our printing is starting to dwindle. I really need to go talk to someone about going back to school while I still have a company to pay for it. While I don't think my job will be gone in five years, it could be gone in ten years.

California is a horrible state. Really guys, SB 375? You want to cut emissions by 8% and possibly raise gas to NINE DOLLARS A GALLON? Are you serious? Do you think the people would stand for that? Most people I know drive a lot, to see friends, to go to work, to do things they like. You think people will really go for that? .25 a mile during rush hour? LOL! Mary Nichols can seriously DIAF.

Even worse that Whitman and Brown are now both supporting this Global Warming solutions act. Regardless of if you believe in it or not, one state in the entire world cutting emissions, belief or not, isn't going to do squat.

I picked up M:TG again, and am focusing more on developing my magic. We went dancing the other night and after a short break my knee wasn't very supportive. I'll need to have it looked at soon, it's bothering me more lately but that may be because I started exercising it every other day, then stopped after my gum surgery. Maybe when I start working out again it'll do better.

Haven't updated in a while
Well I have, but they've been only personal entries for reflection on certain things.

- I don't think I have enough actual college credits to go to CSUDH, need to make an appt with a community college counselor to find out and get working on that. Free education rules.

- Bartering lots of stuff, Projector, Server, Laser Printer (with two extra toners!). CL is funny, some of the barter people are hillarious.

- Picked up a MTG collection from ebay, which I turned for a nice profit it would seem so far. Going to play in a more limited format and see if I can make a qualifier. I haven't played in a while but seeing as I always placed T8 in limited formats I'm going continue to focus on that.

- Nikki starts school tomorrow (science camp anyway) she has to play an insturment this year. Hey Jen got a Clarinet we can has/borrow? =D

- Toof work started again, one of the ones that was partially filled cracked at the top of the gum line, they'll finish it up on Friday. Yay for FSA, I need to remember to put like 2k in that next year to cover for probably another bridge at least.

- I'll post some game updates soon, we've played a lot of other stuff recently.

GNO Video Complete.

This was the video we shot for a friend of a friends song.

Was a ton of fun making the video itself, first half was filmed at my house. Be sure to watch the out takes/credits reel too as there's some funy stuff in there.

I need to post a game update later this week. Played a lot of new stuff but haven't really had the urge to write.

Speaking of writing Dave reminded me to continue to work on my autobiography. I should do that.

lol @ okcupid having a psychology game, I scored 360 on my best attempt and all purely on images without reviewing profiles, I'm sure if I really took my time I could get to 500 but it was fun.
http://www.okcupid.com/the-psychologist-game?playgame=1 I changed my picture to just me and joined as a patient for the lulz of others. Some of the questions are funny.

Martha is back which gives us a full staff just in time for some other changes. Some of the work we doled out to other centers will wind up back here now.

I requested my transcripts today. Since my work pays for me to get a degree I figure why not? ;x Plus I want to take a kick ass language course like Russian, or Pig Latin.

Gosh I love CA...

lulz, we want to ban giving out toys with happy meals. It's obviously the toys that are drawing our kids to eat copious amounts of happy meals and make them fat.

Clearly offering apples and regular milk among other things with kids meals isn't enough, we have to take the fun out of it to and hope that'll entice them to not want to eat it!

I swear the CA legislators must be some of the stupidest people on the planet.

We're also passing a ban on smoking at beaches and parks (or at least on the way to from what I heard this morning). While I personally dislike smoke (and smokers) what's next, you can't smoke in your car? I mean really how much more do we need to infringe on peoples personal freedoms here. Actually I bet the CARB board is going to start fining you for smoking, obviously smoke is causing global warming too.

The Healthcare bill, without the public option, seems like a big failure to me. You're going to require the insurance companies cover everyone, but have nothing in place to make sure that there's good competition to keep down rates. I can't imagine what my rates are going to be like. I have no problem helping the people who need insurance, but I think the way this was done, was pretty piss poor.

See I have allergies, really bad allergies since we moved to azusa. I pretty much wake up with a bloody nose every day. No OTC allergy medication completely relieves my symptoms. Claritin D does about the best job but still doesn't relieve all my symptoms, or my morning bloody noses. Singulair does, but it's not a necessary medication according to my Healthcare provider and a 30 day supply is some ridiculous cost of 120 dollars. There's no generic. Really? Now we've passed something giving biotech companies what was it like 10 years with no competition on a new drug (or something to that effect.)  Clearly this bill is obviously going to help me! =(

I admit I haven't read all the facts on the bill yet, but so far from what I've seen it's just a dissapointment.

Fail to Excel
So boss sends me some data this morning and is like can you make a simple graph of this, showing one point of data for each year for the past six years, simple yes?

So I sat here for an hour unable to make this simple graph. I was like OMFG why won't the year display on the X Axis. So after I finally just jury rigged it (and made it look meh, compared to good.) I came back to my desk and I'm like WTF was I doing wrong?

Yeah putting the word Year in the far left column, duh. I'm so pro! I make graphs all the time for different stuff and for some reason I could not see it hah.

Anyways, my shoulders been hurting. Taking part in the filming of a music video (el oh el) but mostly my time is spent on nothing but work right now as usual. W2 season is killer, and although this year is much better then previous years (having 10 shippers under me helps) it's still a lot of W2s to crank out of our office. Luckily we don't have to do Costco here this year, we gave it to Denver instead haha.

I'm also feeling a bit sick but I think it's just because I've been sleeping even poorer then usual because every time I roll on to my side my shoulder hurts and wakes me up.

So one of the guys I deal with on occasion (kellyspades.com) invited me to go to the Magic Castle. Having never been before I said SHOOR!

My brain is pretty logical and the thing that makes me love magic so much is trying to figure out what logically happened, and when I can't do that it makes me crazy, which is fun.

John Carney did something that pretty much baffled me so much I can't stop thinking about it. Most people have seen the routines where the person has some cups and moves some balls around under them and then they produce a lemon or orange from one of the cups and you're like wait, WTF!

Well Carney did one a bit different where he had a cup and a hat, and he was moving the ball from cup, to under the hat, to his pocket etc etc. I saw the orange coming and I was waiting for it and caught the movement and thought, HAHA! So he produces the orange and I'm like yeah I know! Then he picks up the hat and drops a FREAKING COCONUT out of it. We're not talking like a small one, this thing pretty much took up the ENTIRE hat.

Moments before that he had the cup under it and there was no way the coconut would even fit. My brain was just like wait huh wtf!!!!

Anyways, after talking with Kelly some more about it I think I will become a member of the castle.

Right Meow!
So the hole in my mouth still hasn't healed. The dentist was basically like LOL your gums are crappy which is stopping the healing, let's do a deep cleaning and rape you for 1000 dollars so it can heal.

So one deep cleaning later (and it doesn't really seem to feel any different, but the cleaning hurt like hell) and then they gave me this mouthwash to use.

This stuff isn't that bad when you use it, it's fairly minty and seems okay, but you can't eat or drink for 30 minutes after using it. Now when you do eat or drink next, it tastes utterly foul, foul, foul. Ugh, almost made me barf this morning while trying to eat my breakfast.

Saturday night I dealt in Newport then got a call that a dealer didn't show up at Hollywood park, so I treked the fourty miles out there to deal at a High School homecoming (who hires blackjack dealers for this? Anywaya, man I didn't realize they could play music like that at homecomings! At least never at ours.

SKEET SKEET SKEET SKEET, I mean really? It wasn't even that there were a lot of F bombs and playin of 2 short among other artists who aren't known for their emo lyrics like 2 pac. ( Shameless plug for http://www.whatsemo.com/)

So anyways I did some tricks since it was high schoolers and blew some of them away, which is always fun. It never ceases to amaze me how much ambitious card seems to fool so many people. Ending with the spectators card in your mouth is always fun.

I talked to Kelly a bit about picking up more tricks and magic. He's gonna let me borrow some books and even take me to the castle =D yay.

- Picked up some of the new Arcane cards from ellusionist. Very slick. I love these things. The feel of the cards right out of the box were enough to let me know I'd only be using these for Magic. After almost a week with them they are outstanding.

- Janice and Bert were let go this week. There were actually cuts of about 50ish people from the PR part of our organization, or so I heard. It's really sad to not have them here when I come in. I sit in a big room at a desk all by myself ;_; it's pretty sad. I got a lot of emails with the structural general change email went out. A lot of people were concerned about me and sent emails to make sure I was still around which was nice.

- Kids these days just don't trick-r-treat like I used to. Man my brother and I used to take pillowcases and fill them up and run back for more hitting as many houses as we could. We took Nik N Nat through our townhouse complex and they had one bucketfull and said they were tired already! We trick or treated in the snow both way damnit! Was fun anyway, even though I wasn't feeling so hot.

- Really need to get a Gambit costume together again for next year. Need to find a way to make cards and/or a staff glow pink.

- Ordered 1,000 "magician" business cards from OD, slickdeals.net had a thing to order 1000 cards for 3 bucks haha.

- Also picked up BoBo's modern coin magic after seeing some of the stuff to expand my tricks some so I can actuall perform a bit more. Need to buy some magicians rope and other items as well.

Yay for popularity contests!
So, I put together a video for a contest at work. After reading the rules I came up with something that ties in my talent (magic) with the United Way, and pulled in some friends and resources to put together a pretty awesome video.

Today all of the entries were posted. My video (if I do say so myself) is pretty amazing. I had some great help and put together a very professional video. The majority of the other videos aren't very well done, and some of them are just hard to watch (I feel like I'm watching AI auditions).

At first I sent an email to a few close friends in the company saying if you like my video please vote for it. Now I am almost regretting that. I wish I said VOTE FOR MY VIDEO OR I KEEL YOU! A video right behind mine (by two votes) is utterly retarded. I wouldn't want that video representing my business unit, and I'm sad that it's gotten so many votes. It's honestly pretty lame. I really hope I win at least the business unit contest, but at this point I'm not holding my breath, and I'm pretty sad about it ;_;.

Even if I do win the BU contest, I don't think I have a shot in hell at the overall contest. Some videos already have over 80 votes (and mine has an awesome 17). We have one of the smallest BU's out there. Yay for popularity contests!

(When the contest is over I'll put it on youtube)

Where are all the white women at!
(blazing saddles if you're wondering.)

I love reading the OKC blog entries, lately they've been talking about responders and who writes back to who. You should probably read this if you're not white, or even if you are. It's pretty interesting.

Making movies is fun, NOT!
So when I pitched the idea to Nicole that we'd be filming to make my UW commercial Saturday night my daughter was super excited.

Then she saw haw boring it was to watch someone do the same exact thing, 50 times in a row.

I think we spent about 2 hours or so shooting the footage for the minute and a half commercial. It's funny because when I do magic if I make a mistake I improvise and change the trick. However, when you're filming something on camera and telling a story by it you can't improvise your story suddenly. Having to perform each trick flawlessly over and over really isn't bad, I practice that. For some reason though doing it on camera was a problem for two of the tricks.

I'm going to give myself a pat on the back and say the reason for the frustration is those two (out of the four) took the most takes because essentially they were new tricks. Not to say they've never been done by anyone, but pairing tricks together in certain ways for a new trick, or changing something slightly is a new trick imo!

Anyways, luckily I was able to go to Steves radio station he works at last night (at midnight ;p) and lay down the audo for the voiceovers since we're doing the audio as a diff. track (Thanks ZUG ZUG for ideas!).

Should have a commercial sometime this week that I'll post, I'm excited to see the final product.

Phone fix!
So I wasn't content that my phone was just broke. While I did get it wet I didn't think it got wet enough to do any damage to it (don't use your centro as a nightlight and bump in to things).

Anyways, I did a whole bunch of searching and found that apparently a very common problem for palms is there is a switch in the microphone jack and that switch sometimes get stuck in the microphone position making the palm think a mic is plugged in, when there isn't one.

Well since Palm has a ton of users who write apps one guy had this problem one to many times and made an app called headcold that lets you manually override the switch. So download, install, http://headcold.sourceforge.net/ tada! Working phone!
11:04 am
Broked my phone! YAY! I hate Sprint so much. I'm eligible for a $150 upgrade in like 32 days, so I call and am like look I broke my phone and I NEED it, it's my only phone I don't have landline can you help me out here?

No, they can't. After almost an hour on the phone and six different reps (and departments)I'm like look if you guys can't help me i'll be glad to cancel my service and go with another provider. The last guy didn't even try to help he just told me how I should have had insurance so they could replace my phone...

I would think, in the economy as it is, you wouldn't want to lose a customer because the contract doesn't expire for 30 days and you're unwilling to provide a discount because of that.

3:36 pm
So a week vacation and now back to work. I managed to not check my email, or blackberry, for the entire week I was off and only got one phone call. It was pretty amazing.

It's nice to come back to work with no turnover from Chris in what should be a (mostly) light week. (It is QE though so probably a few of the usual snafu's).

Anyways, everyone came down Saturday for bday at my house. Good lord 31, I'm getting old! We played a card game called Family Business (need to get this) , some poker (didn't win this time ;( and saw some funny bad beats), and some other stuff. Gifts included some random gift cards, an oakley watch =D (with a battery that seems impossible to find), One of the new nanos to replace what was my lost nano (which I found while on vacation under the floorboard in my xb), annnnnndddddd a starbucks giftcard which promptly went to Sydneys sister.

The last time I went in starbucks I think was like 3 years ago when Syd and I went dancing at the promenade and needed something to drink so we went in and bought water (I think).

Anyways, that being said I decided it was time to import the 100 or so mixture of swing/jazz CD's last night to put on my nano. On the first CD it stopped importing on BEANS AND CORNBREAD, NOOOOOOOOOOOO. So the CD's have been out of cases and have lots of dust and scratches as they were in just a boxlid. So I'm going to try and clean them up tonight and hopefully get a good version of one of my fav. Louie songs (Sydney swears I love songs about food, Hungry Man YAY).

Doggle has been awesome and loved meeting everyone at the party. Last night when we got home from dinner he was SUPER excited and played for like almost five minutes (which beats his previous record of 30 seconds).
